This qualification is designed to give students the knowledge, skills and competencies to provide clinical supervision for counsellors. Students must have acquired sufficient counselling experience to contemplate the move into a clinical supervisory role. Participants will need to be working as counsellors under supervision.
Successful candidates will be able to work as counselling supervisors in a range of career opportunities, which include but are not limited to:
- A supervisor employed by an agency or organisation that offers
individual counselling to adults - A private supervisor working for an organisation
- A supervisor in private practice

Method of Delivery
Synchronous (live) Zoom Sessions
Accompanying the live Zoom sessions, we have an extensive website with a leading Learning Management System. The live sessions will be recorded and made available online for extra support. In addition, all of the course materials covering the full curriculum will be made available online to facilitate blended learning.
The course is delivered one evening a week via Zoom
6pm – 9pm for 30 weeks
Entry requirements
- Level 5 Diploma or equivalent in Counselling
- Substantial practitioner experience
Assessment
Assessment will be made by means of:
- 2 written assignments (2500 words)
- Tutor observation of case presentation
- Supervisor’s report
- Peer feedback
- Supervisee record (15 hours)
- Supervisory record (5 hours)
Additional Requirements
- Supervision work: minimum of 15 hours
- Supervisory supervision: 5 hours with an experienced clinical supervisor (this can include group supervision)
