May I firstly offer a warm welcome to UKAIT students embarking on their studies as did I in 2021.
Like many people, the COVID-19 pandemic hit, which provided me with an opportunity to take stock of my life and what mattered most. I had been employed in the education sector for 20+ years, working a variety of roles including, teaching pupils, managing staff in mainstream schools and special education provisions, as well as mentoring student teachers from LMJU and Hope University.
I enjoyed my time in education, however, my work/life balance became more and more difficult to maintain. I had also experienced a series of bereavements over a short period of time and this had affected my mental health. I asked myself the question ‘What did I want to do with the rest of my life?’ The answer came back: I wanted to feel connected and help people. I decided the best way to pursue this would be to become a Counsellor. Word of mouth led me to find Mr Paul Henderson, founder of UKAIT. After speaking with him, I knew this course was the right path for me. Two years later my life had completely changed…
I am now a fully qualified Integrative Counsellor and Hypnotherapist and founder of Bridge to the Other Side Counselling & Hypnotherapy. My other qualifications include: Alcoholic to Alchemist Licensed Practitioner (Addictions Therapy), and Diploma in Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy.
My experience in counselling and hypnotherapy is wide and varied, having worked for a number of professional organisations, including: Amparo (Listening Ear’s Branch of Suicide Prevention), Place2Be, Swan Women’s Centre and various Merseyside schools. Issues wide and varied, including helping clients to manage:
- Stress
- Anxiety
- Depression
- Low Self-Esteem
- Inter-personal conflicts
- Parenting Difficulties – including parenting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities
- Domestic Violence
- Sexual Abuse
- Coercive Control
- Trauma
- PTSD
- Addictions, and
- Grief (including experiencing bereavement through suicide)
My Offer To UKAIT Students
PERSONAL COUNSELLING
Although counselling isn’t mandatory for students on UKAIT courses, it may be encouraged if students have issues that impede their progress. This serves two main purposes: Firstly, if you’re training to be a counsellor and have never had counselling before, it may be enlightening and liberating. Secondly, we’ve all got – to some degree – unresolved issues – emotional difficulties that linger in the background. To reach our optimal potential, it is helpful to address these issues. It’s this awareness that keeps counsellors going back to counselling themselves; not just for our own benefit but for our clients as well. If we don’t look after ourselves then how can we look after anyone else? Undergoing counselling will help lessen the chances of you being triggered by a client’s issue, and enable you to concentrate solely on the client.
I offer students of UKAIT a discounted rate for personal counselling of £40 per hour. *A further discounted option is available of 6 sessions for £180.
Sessions are offered remotely using various platforms; for example, Zoom and Microsoft Teams. I provide a warm, welcoming, safe, supportive, confidential, non-judgemental and professional service which offers you a place to be seen, heard, supported and understood.
My approach is always tailored to your individual needs, it is integrative, humanistic and holistic. I explore current behaviours, feelings and vulnerabilities and promote self-awareness, knowledge and insight into self-care. Stress can be reduced, and a realisation can be reached as to how unhelpful thinking, behaviours and actions, may have been hindering your ability to live well.
ASSIGNMENT WRITING SUPPORT
There is a lot of help and support available on the UKAIT website for Assignment Writing including examples of assignments which have met the criteria set. Additionally, I also offer Assignment Writing Support. I can offer you guidance with structure and content and work alongside you when you require that extra level of support and comfort, this is particularly useful for anyone who is struggling with confidence. My charge for this service is £25 per hour.
I look forward to working with you and supporting you on your journey.
Warm regards,
Nichola Doyle
